Narrative

My mind was pretty much made up. Starting over in a new state which wasn’t god Old Brooklyn made me feel like a million bucks. How exciting was it to know that I was going to be the first out of my siblings to leave home and attend college? Well, I was beyond excited because I had the chance to explore and had the chance to do it all  by myself. Come to think about it, I was terrified deep down. I was traveling miles and miles away from the community I knew all my life, my family, my friends , and most of all the shopping areas. But, hey it would be me or my younger sister. Black Friday had arrived and my mother and I and a couple of my sisters went shopping, picking out comforters, pillows, clothes, shoes and more comforters, It actually hit home. I was going to leave everything behind to start a new life with new people.
I was in Miami Shores, Florida and I was moving on campus. The biggest campus I have ever seen and I haven’t seen many. But, in this case I was compelled to like this school and all its offerings and most of all I was excited to find out who my rooming buddy was. Dragging all those bags of things I had carried, man were they heavy, I had secretly stuffed Brooklyn into my larger compartment. My mother and older sisters were helping me unpacked until I realized that I would rather go back home and attend school in New York City. It was a late decision making and St. John’s University had sent me my acceptance letter and I was beyond relief. Although it was a easy decision to come back to New York and complete my endeavors, I took a sigh of relief and here I am a year later in St. john’s university.
